Safari Error Message: "Video file not found."

You may run into a "Video file not found" error message when viewing TCF videos using Apple's Safari Web browser on a Mac. Here's how to fix it:

  1. Shut down Safari. Make sure all of your Safari browser windows have been closed and you have fully exited from the application. (Press Command-Q while viewing Safari.)
  2. Restart Safari and navigate to the page displaying the video.
  3. You will be prompted to log in to "this area" to view these "restricted files":

  4. Before clicking the Log In button, be certain that the "Remember this password in my keychain" box is checked.
  5. Enter the appropriate user name and password (ask your TCF instructor if you do not know what they are.
  6. Click the Log In button. Your video should now display.

Explanation

Safari has a rather screwy way of handing online authentication. If the TCF password is not in your computer's "keychain," you will not be able to access our video files.
