Personal Web Page Assignment
Each student will create his/her own Web page. 20
points. Due Wednesday, May 27th, 5:00 p.m. You may store it on the
TCF Web server (http://www.tcf.ua.edu) or another location of your own choosing.
To submit your Web page, e-mail its location (its URL) to Jeremy Butler,
jbutler@ua.edu.
Required components:
-
Links to all the Web sites you've reviewed for the class.
-
One of these links must also include an "anchor" inside a page.
-
A paragraph about yourself--interests, major, hobbies, etc.
-
But do not include your phone number or local address (or student
ID number or VISA card number or anything else you wouldn't give to a stranger
in a bus station).
-
One HTML table.
-
One HTML list.
-
An image you've found on the Web.
-
A photograph of yourself (I'll create this first one for you if you don't
have one).
-
A background color or image.
-
Different sized fonts.
-
"Last revised" and contact information (with a MAILTO tag).
-
A few horizontal rules.
Your page may not:
-
Be a copy of a Web page you've created before this class. However, it may
contain elements taken from other Web pages of yours. At least 75% of it
must be new.
Grading criteria:
-
Do images display properly and links function correctly?
-
Are there spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors?
-
Is it well-written HTML code? That is, is the source code easy to read (and,
thus, easy to edit later)?
-
Does the page load quickly? (Are images as small as possible?)
-
Is it functional and attractive? That is, does it make a strong impact?
-
How well does the layout look on a 640x480 screen? How does the page look
on a 256-color monitor?
-
Does it use the elements presented in Joe Barta's tutorials? Does it make
creative, original use of those elements?
